Mel's Coding Corner

Welcome to Mel's Coding Corner, where lines of code and endless cups of panera bread's charged lemonade are the norm. But who says it has to be all work and no play? Here, I'm all about bringing some fun into software engineering and sharing my passion for coding with the world.

Think of this blog as my personal coding playground, where I get to share all my latest coding adventures and misadventures. But that's not all - I've also set aside a special spot just for me to journal my accomplishments, interviews, job fairs, events, hackathons, and thoughts.

This is a place where I get to celebrate my successes, reflect on my challenges, and share all my tech musings with the world. And the best part? It's all my own - a virtual space just for me to unleash my coding creativity and share my journey with all my fellow coding enthusiasts out there. So join me in Mel's Coding Corner, and let's dive deep into the wonderful world of software engineering together!

Hack for Good: JPMorgan Chase Hackathon

Hello, fellow tech enthusiasts! I've got some fantastic news to share - I've been accepted to participate in JPMorgan Chase & Co's Hack for Good hackathon as the final interview step for their Emerging Talent Software Engineer (ETSE) program!

I'm thrilled to be given the chance to work alongside other like-minded individuals who are just as passionate as I am about using our coding skills to make a real difference in the world. And what's even better is that this hackathon allows us to do just that, by working in groups to develop innovative solutions for non-profit organizations.

I'm excited to take on this challenge and use my programming expertise to create something truly impactful for those in need. It's an honor to work with JPMorgan Chase & Co, one of the world's most respected financial institutions, and I can't wait to learn from their expertise and collaborate with other talented engineers.

I'm especially excited about the group aspect of this hackathon. By working together with other passionate and skilled engineers, we can pool our talents and come up with truly unique and creative solutions. Plus, the camaraderie and teamwork make it all the more fun and rewarding.

Overall, I'm grateful for this amazing opportunity to participate in the Hack for Good hackathon and showcase my skills as a software engineer. It's a chance to work on something that really matters and to make a positive difference in the world. I'm excited to get started and see what my group will be able to accomplish together!

Hack Reactor Graduation!

print('Hello world!')

It's official - I'm a Hack Reactor graduate! After 19 weeks of intensive learning, coding, and collaborating, I've successfully completed one of the most highly-regarded software engineering bootcamps in the world.

But what exactly is Hack Reactor, you may ask? Well, it's not your typical coding course, that's for sure. This program is designed for aspiring software engineers who are looking to take their skills to the next level. And trust me when I say, it's intense. From day one, I was thrown into the deep end, working on complex coding projects and collaborating with fellow students to build functional web applications.

The curriculum covered full-stack development, incorporating both Python and JavaScript, giving me a comprehensive understanding of these two powerful programming languages. We dove deep into topics like design patterns, domain driven design, object oriented programming as well as exploring more advanced concepts like data structures and algorithms.

But the best part of Hack Reactor? The hands-on experience. We worked on real-world projects, collaborating with industry professionals and getting a taste of what it's really like to work as a software engineer in the tech industry.

Overall, Hack Reactor was an incredible experience that has provided me with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed as a software engineer in today's ever-evolving tech landscape. I'm excited to take what I've learned and put it into practice, building innovative and impactful software that will make a real difference in the world. So, to my fellow Hack Reactor graduates, let's take the coding world by storm!
